Experimental: checkpoint field files honour PETSc's -viewer_binary_mpiio false to move them through rank 0 instead of MPI-IO; the file format is the same either way. On Open MPI 4.1 over Lustre, OMPI_MCA_io=romio321 was measured faster than the default OMPIO driver.
